Usher Ministry

The Ministry of Ushers is a servant related ministry of the church. It is composed of members of the Church who believe God has called them to serve in this area of the church. Ushers greet members and guests while assisting with seating.  They also assist those with special needs, conduct offerings, and ensure orderliness of those entering and leaving the sanctuary during services. Oak Valley Ushers are ready to offer general assistance and knowledge of the worship service and its proceedings to any member of the congregation who requires it. Ushers know the location of the bathrooms, fire exits, sanctuary and infant rooms. In emergencies, church members call upon ushers to help keep order and escort everyone out safely.

Our other responsibilities include the following:

  • Create an atmosphere of genuine welcome and concern for all attending the services.
  • Greet all worshipers as they enter the sanctuary and direct them to a pew for seating.
  • Be attentive to the needs of persons during the services, and give directions and answer questions as needed.
  • Make sure that offering plates, programs for the orders of worship, and other needed aids and supplies are available before each worship service.
  • Make seating available for special guests.
  • Assure that the sanctuary is in comfortable physical order before each service.
